New Yeasayer Track — “Henrietta”
Since Yeasayer’s 2010 release Odd Blood, we’ve been eager to hear where this band would go next. Their new track, “Henrietta,” is a great extension of the sound that we fell in love with on their last album.

My opinion of E-Sharpe and the MagZees has always been up-and-down. Do they have a lot to offer with a unique sound and perspective on music? Sure. Do they always fulfill that potential? Well in this particular instance the answer is yes. Their fully-realized vision plucks at our heart-strings like flipping through old family photo albums as the folksy backdrop drives home the subtle significance of each gesture like a Victorian English drama.
Enjoy “Mother”.

Do we hear at VIMTV dote on Thom Yorke just a little bit? Yes. But trust me when I say that we wouldn’t if the bloke didn’t just fucking deserve it. In this cut with Modeselektor, Yorke’s voice becomes almost an instrument in its own way, dancing on top of dubby bass, creating an atmosphere as invasive as it is pensive. Enjoy “This”.

I don’t know which is more staggering, the unbelievable beauty of another Oneohtrix creation, or the fact that I once called Daniel Lopatin’s side-project the brainchild of The War On Drugs frontman. But hey, we all get to make mistakes right?
Anyway, this particular creation is as entrancing and confusing as it is satisfying and fulfilling. Teasing out that captivating line “I only have eyes for you” over the course of seven minutes somehow makes it’s repetition in the original song seem greedy. The musical equivalent of enjoying every, last, drop of a warm drink on a cold winter’s night.

Jesus, you just cannot pin these guys down.
With Merriweather Post Pavilion still ringing beautifully in our ears, this new track shows yet another step in the genre-less evolution of these creative visionaries. Pounding, almost tribal drum beats back a unique song structure and that famous educated optimism we’ve come to know and love.

Beach House’s latest single “Myth” from the upcoming album Bloom (out May 15th) builds upon the sultry sounds we heard on 2010’s Teen Dream. Myth shows that the direction Beach House is taking retains their moody sonic presence while focusing on adding an enhanced atmosphere. Be sure to check this one out!

Have you seen footage? Death Grips apparently has. This video for the track “I’ve Seen Footage” off of their landmark debut record The Money Store is a great visualization of the craziness that is Death Grips. While this is probably one of the most upbeat songs on the record, you definitely get a sense of the chaos Death Grips designs for each track. The Money Store is already being heralded as one of those genre-defining, must listen albums. VIMTV is definitely joining the raving fans on this one; we can’t seem to put it down!

“Two Lines” by Lightships is one of our favorite tracks from Teenage Fanclub bassit/vocalist Gerard Love’s debut solo album Electric Cables. This video perfectly sums up the mood of the entire album. It’s the kind of music that works well for morning walks around serene landscapes; preferably those of the maritime variety. Check this out and tell us what you think!

There are very few people whose taste I trust. It’s not that I’m the knower of what’s best, it’s just that, who can we say really, perfectly matches our tastes? (besides me, Jake, and Tom of course) Scott Hansen is my one exception.
Scott Hansen, or Tycho, has a phenomenal ear for well-produced, meditative electronica, and while my tastes bend this way largely due to efforts on my own work at present, you cannot ignore that in such a hectic world, everyone could use a little Actress now and again. This particular post over at his blog samples indie dance, retro synth, and abstract pieces for an enjoyable and thoughtful twenty-or-so minutes (after the jump).

Q:I was wondering if you two would like to take up the challenge of reviewing a black metal album. If so, I would recommend the Ukrainian band Drudkh and their 2006 album Blood In Our Wells.
Added on Spotify and listening now my friend. - Ian

How !@#$ing good is/are Lower Dens? Very. A pensive, gently stroking group of NPR taste, this cut from the band off their newest Nootropics blends lightly produced snare and expansive guitars with a patience and fullness that rivals M83.
To boot, the captivating, simple, and disarming video demands as much attention as it deserves. Read: all of yours.

“Hood” from Perfume Genius’s much awaited sophomore release Put Your Back N 2 It serves as a moment of energy on the album while expanding Mike Hadreas’s sound. Check out this racy new music video!
“Red” by Lost In The Trees is the first single from the new album A Church That Fits Our Needs, a tribute to lead singer’s Ari Picker’s mother who committed suicide in 2009. The album, like the track “Red,” is hauntingly beautiful and full of themes of woods, gold and death. If you are looking for something expansive and moving, check this out!
